Transport
The Transport module evaluates the environmental footprint of your regular journeys: how you get to campus, what modes of transport you use in your daily life and how many kilometres you travel. It includes both passenger transport and, if applicable, freight transport.
What is measured in this module?
Passenger transport
Kilometres travelled in each type of transport: private car, urban bus, intercity bus, train, metro/tram, motorcycle, bicycle and walking. For shared vehicles, an occupancy factor is applied that reduces the individual impact.
Freight transport
If applicable to your activity, the kilometres of material or equipment transport are recorded. This is relevant in laboratory practice, project or activity contexts involving material logistics.

Why does it matter?
Transport is usually the module with the greatest environmental impact for most university students. A daily commute by private car can generate more emissions than all the home's electricity consumption.
Comparing your Pre calculation (start of course) with the Post (end) shows whether you have managed to adopt more sustainable alternatives: carpooling, using public transport or cycling are changes with a measurable and significant impact.
